Ambassadors
The World Radiography Educational Trust Foundation (WRETF) Ambassadors are global representatives who advance radiography education through bursary promotion, mentorship, event organization, and international collaboration. They serve as liaisons between trustees and the wider radiography community, ensuring that WRETF’s mission reaches students and professionals across diverse regions.
Among them, Peachy S. Luna, Prakash Umbarkar, Stephen Mkoloma, and Suraj Sah have each been honored as Ambassadors of the Year for their outstanding contributions. Luna has led the technical management of WRETF’s online programs, serving as host and director of the World Radiography Students Day (WRSD) webinar, ensuring smooth coordination and professional delivery. She was co‑led in this initiative by Umbarkar, Mkoloma, and Sah, who each played vital roles in hosting, presenting, and engaging participants. Umbarkar has also contributed expertise in radiation therapy education and hosted flagship student events. Mkoloma has inspired audiences with talks on navigating disruption and transformation in radiography, encouraging adaptability and innovation. Sah has actively organized and presented at conferences across Asia, delivered lectures on social media as a tool for professional development, and managed The Radiography Room Facebook page to share research and opportunities.
Other ambassadors also contribute significantly to WRETF’s global mission. Ansuman Darboe from The Gambia has strengthened radiography education in West Africa by promoting bursaries and student mentorship. Adam Zuberi has engaged in outreach and professional development activities, while Jean Felix Habimana from Rwanda has promoted educational resources and community engagement in East Africa. Minilik Mengistu from Ethiopia has ensured radiography students in his country gain access to WRETF’s programs. At the same time, Karagan Stahl from the USA has represented WRETF in North America, supporting international collaboration and innovation in radiography education.
Together, these ambassadors embody WRETF’s vision by connecting radiographers worldwide, sharing resources, and ensuring visibility of bursaries and educational opportunities. Their collective efforts highlight the importance of collaboration, mentorship, and outreach, sustaining WRETF’s global impact and reinforcing its role as a trusted foundation for radiography education.

Minilik Mengistu
ADDIS ABABA
Minilik Mengistu is a Clinical Application Specialist at Mindray with over 10 years of experience in medical imaging, clinical applications, and healthcare education. He holds a BSc in Medical Radiologic Technology from Addis Ababa University and an MBA in Counseling Psychology. He is passionate about advancing diagnostic imaging through education, innovation, and the integration of artificial intelligence into clinical practice.
Minilik has delivered multiple professional training programs in ultrasound and digital radiography for radiographers, radiologists, sonographers, and other healthcare professionals across Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and Liberia, helping strengthen clinical capacity, improve diagnostic accuracy, and enhance patient care throughout Africa.
He is the author of the Manual of Obstetrics Ultrasound for Ethiopian Medical Radiologic Technologists and co-author of the Manual of Spine Deformity Imaging. He has also contributed to the development of national clinical guidelines and is the founder of the #RADዮጵያ peer learning platform, which promotes continuous professional development for imaging professionals.
Since 2024, Minilik has served as a World Radiography Education Trust Fund (WRETF) Ambassador, supporting initiatives that strengthen radiography education and professional development worldwide. In 2026, he was honored as the LinkedIn Changemaker Awards Ethiopia – Best STEM & Innovation Content winner in recognition of his contributions to STEM education, healthcare innovation, and professional knowledge sharing.
His professional interests include ultrasound, digital radiography, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), artificial intelligence in medical imaging, clinical education, leadership development, and capacity building across Africa. -

Lisa Pittock
INDIA
Prakash Umbarkar, M.Sc. (Physics), PGDRTT, Ph.D. Scholar, is a Scientific Officer and Senior Radiation Therapist at P.D. Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai, with over 16 years of experience in radiation therapy.He is a member of the ESTRO Positioning & Immobilization Focus Group and serves as National Academic Coordinator of the Association of Radiation Therapy Technologists of India (ARTTI). He is also an India Ambassador for the World Radiography Education Trust Fund (WRETF), where he leads the International Webinar Series Project, supporting global knowledge exchange and professional education in radiography and radiation therapy.
Prakash serves as Training Coordinator for the Patient Positioning & Immobilization Training School, in collaboration with Orfit and POCL Medical Systems India. His areas of expertise include IGRT, adaptive radiotherapy, patient positioning and immobilization, motion management, and setup error analysis.
He has received Best Paper and Best Poster Awards at the ESTRO Asia Conference, Singapore (2018) and has authored several national and international publications. His work focuses on advancing radiation therapy through clinical practice, research, education, leadership, and international collaboration.
