WRETF Appoints Keith Piper as New Trustee

The World Radiography Educational Trust Foundation (WRETF) has appointed Dr Keith Piper as a Trustee. Keith, who was Programme Director of the MSc course on Clinical Reporting at Canterbury Christ Church University for over 20 years, is clearly no stranger to educational matters having both developed and provided training courses for students both within the UK and overseas.

His particular interest in image interpretation and clinical reporting is particularly pertinent to the work of the WRETF as the lack of resources in developing countries often means that radiographic staff have to make and take such decisions in the absence of other clinical staff.

Keith has also been a prolific researcher and has worked on many research projects in his career, often having to put together successful funding bids.

“I am sure Keith’s nose for fund-raising will be put to good use in some of our funding activities”, said Alan Budge, currently acting Honorary Secretary and former Treasurer of the WRETF. “We are particularly lucky to have Keith on board as his education skill set will be vital in helping the WRETF bursary programme as it blossoms and he is well-regarded as a teacher of considerable experience in his own right”, he added.

Although he has spent almost all of his academic career in Kent he did initially work as a radiographer in the Bristol Royal Infirmary but it is his teaching work in the School of Public and Allied Health Professions at Canterbury Christ Church University for which he best known. He has also amassed much external examination experience, including work at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, the University of Northern NSW and University of Newcastle in Australia.

“I am really pleased to have joined the WRETF as a Trustee and hope to put my education experience to good use over the coming years and am looking forward to making a real contribution. The Trustees have made me feel very welcome and the activities they get involved with, particularly the bursary scheme, are activities that are very close to my heart”, Keith said.
